What she never imagined is that she would meet Jordi and her life would be turned upside down. Jordi is a fantastic guy who falls in love with her, but the limits between religions are present, for Samira it is impossible to be with an atheist without hurting her family, she fears being repudiated and not being able to maintain contact with her family. On the fiftieth birthday of the dance that marked their lives, four friends, now reunited, relive the past they lived together.

The students’ ball brings back to life the lives of four friends: Salud, Clara, Àngela and Rosa and a transcendental moment, the ball of 12 May 1956, a date that was to mark them forever and ever. Time has passed and, despite the promise of meeting again, they are no longer the girls of 1956, they have grown up and have become different people, often with lives that are far removed from those they had led years before.

The year 2006 marks the fiftieth birthday of the ball that year that passed into the memory of the four friends, now reunited, looking back on the past they lived together.

TÁNDEM

Author: Sandra Bruna Friday 29 January 2021

A novel about happiness and second chances.

From the moment they meet, Elena and Armand will want to free themselves from everything that traps them and regain the joy that we are only capable of feeling when we experience the present moment. In the process, they will realise that they have the right to change and to see the world differently from the way they have seen it for years, to love themselves and to give themselves the freedom to live fully.

Tandem is a story about happiness, not the one that promises us a wonderful journey, nor the one we feel when we hear “I love you”, but the one that encourages us to cycle with others and to enjoy the landscape.

A delightful novel that explores the human capacity and invites us to abandon routine, rethink our own life, savour it and let ourselves be carried away by its nuances.

NEKO CAFÉ

Author: Sandra Bruna Thursday 28 January 2021

You don’t need seven lifetimes to be happy if you’re willing to try with all your might in this one.

Nagore’s life has been a succession of calamities since she separated from her partner and was fired from her last job. On the verge of losing her flat for non-payment, an old friend finds her an unusual job: waitress at the Neko Café, a café where seven cats wait to find an owner among the customers who come to spend the afternoon. Having been terrified of felines since she was a child, after her first refusal, desperation makes Nagore sign a one-month trial contract. What is initially chaotic at first becomes a transformative experience as the days go by. Each of the seven Neko (“cat” in Japanese) masters will teach her a key to the art of living, such as serenity, concentration, flexibility or the authenticity of the heart, among other values that she will apply to her daily life until she turns her life around.

A novel that shows us that it is always possible to find your place in life, set in one of the cat cafés that are so popular in big cities.

EL CHICO DEL CARTÓN DE LECHE

Author: Sandra Bruna Sunday 10 January 2021

“I met D.L. by chance some years ago during a dinner at the home of a well-known actress to whom I had been invited as a result of the disproportionate success of my first novel…”

This is not a standard novel. It does not pretend to be. It is the story of a disappearance and, with it, a story of many others… It contains no answers, no certainties. It is only a reflection of the silent way in which chance can be waiting, lurking, ready to disrupt our lives forever.
