El manuscrito de Novapàtria son dos historias paralelas: la de un escritor fracasado y alcoholizado (Enric Messeguer) y la de un antiguo bandolero catalán del siglo XVII que, por una serie de circunstancias, se convierte en pirata en el mar Caribe (Roger Dordal). Las dos épocas acaban coincidiendo debido a un puente en el tiempo (el Holandés Errante). Como consecuencia, aparece en la Barcelona actual un pelotón de piratas que se dedican a dar por saco a antiguos franquistas que nunca habían sido castigados por sus delitos. Mientras tanto, Enric Messeguer encuentra un mensaje en su casa firmado por “la Hermandad de la Costa” donde le ofrecen una información que puede ser muy interesante para él. Cuando llega a dirección indicada encuentra un cadáver vestido con ropa del siglo XVII y un manuscrito. A partir de entonces, el cadáver, transformado en fantasma, se aparece diariamente a Enric obligándole a leer el libro donde se describen las aventuras de Roger Dordal y sus compañeros. A medida que avanza en la lectura Enric llega a conclusiones sorprendentes…

An intense story that makes characters reach their limits in order to explore the dark part of human beings; a story that, with a sinister atmosphere, keeps the reader trapped until the end.

An antique dealer from the Jewish neighbourhood from Girona discovers, in a drawer, a series of mysterious letters that announce the date of the end of the world: 2013, a number extracted from the Bible; the same number that the Mayan prediction for the Apocalypse. When this letters are stolen, Leo Vidal receives a phone call made by the antique dealer proposing a good deal: receiving a great amount of Money if he finds the letters. The new adventure of Leo Vidal takes him to the south of Europe, while he is witness of different crimes and follows the clues provided by a mysterious man through the Tarot. But as he approaches to the essence of the investigation, he finds out that the end of the world may be total and irreversible, if he doesn’t decipher a cryptic enigma that goes back to two thousand years ago.

Reinaldo is a librarian in an isolated city near a river where nobody knows how to read except him. The pages of the books are only used for making the fire of the bonfires that enclose the city and protects the city of the mosquitoes, transmitters of an strange illness. 

Those who fall ill are expelled of the city. A scientific committee certifies their infection and, in the silent presence of the citizens, the police make them cross the bonfires and row to the other edge so they can’t return.  

In the city nobody talks about the past. Writing was forbidden some time ago and the knowledge has been lost. Inhabitants live subdued with docility to the authority will: doctors, governors, the police head. Nobody rebels against nor tries to escape.

Reinaldo begins to question the habits of the city and the conformism of the inhabitants when his daughter, going to be thirteen soon, has to pass the adult ceremony: she would have to pass one night in a closed place with spider-monkeys. Rosa is thirty-six years old and is a photographer. When she was a child her father abandoned them and, since then, the shadow of that man whom she never met is chasing her life. One day Rosa receives a letter from Mexico announcing the death of her father. With a photography exhibition as excuse, she would travel to Mexico, where she would met her other family. Just before leaving, Angel, her partner, would ask her to have a child.

“Un pare possible” is a story, thoughtful and passionate at the same time, about paternity, relationships between men and women and family conflicts. This trip would mean for Rosa the reunion with her past where she would seek her own identity.
